Conference Highlights from ACFW
October 2, 2011 in: Writing
The American Christian Fiction Writers annual meeting Sept. 22-25 in St. Louis was a fabulous time. It’s so inspiring to hang out with authors, editors and agents. From beginning writers to award-winning authors, we all share a love of words and using them to spread the gospel.
Here are Laura Franz, author of Courting Morrow Little and other historical novels and Lorna Seilstad, who wrote the delightful Making Waves which I featured in a book review at Daily Cheap Reads.
Jenny B. Jones does her homework signing books in the book store. Jenny is the gifted author of the young adult series So Not Happening and the new romantic comedy Save the Date. She is even funnier in person than she is on the page.
Christian fiction features a lot of historical romance – It’s my personal favorite, too. Here Kathleen Y’Barbo autographs my copy of The Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper. Meeting Kathleen and talking to her about my “work in progress” was one of the highlights of the conference for me.
Another bright spot was being with my writing pals from the Kansas City Chapter of ACFW. We’re not an official chapter yet, but should be this month. These wordsmiths are, from left, Ralene Burke, Susan Mires, Susan Hollaway, Lora Young, Donna Geesey and Barbara Hartzler.
The conference was fabulous, beginning to end. It culminated with the gala banquet and the presentation of the Carol Book of the Year Awards. Some of the winners pictured here are, from left, Terri Blackstock, Lisa Wingate, Carrie Turansky, Lyn Cote, Elizabeth Goddard, Susan May Warren, Beth Wiseman and Marc Schooley.
These are the Carol Award winning titles. Click on the cover to link to the Amazon page.
